Review from lean manufacturing junctionJan 28, 2009
By James Paul Ledingham This is a good book for helping people understand the basic concepts of TPS (Lean manufacturing). It doesn't go into detail about how to implement, but it is an easy to read, simple to follow book about the TPS fundamentals.

My boss recommended the book to me as an introdution to lean thinking several years ago. I found it dry. This time through I got more out of it because we have been implementing and teaching lean for several years and experience has made the details of the book are more understandable and helpful. My parents also seem much smarter these days. I must be getting old.

The book is eye opening. Many of the processes described can be applied to any business as a management philosophy. Managers must look for improvement or face stiff competition from those who don't.

An absolute farce of a review on ToyotaApr 05, 1999
This book failed to capture the essence behind the workings of Toyota. Whether it was through poor research or a simple lack of understanding this book should be avoided at all costs.
