Articles on Lean CultureJul 19, 2008
By Mr. Ross Maynard Like the other books in this series "Lean Culture" comprises articles from "Lean Manufacturing Advisor" magazine. Here the theme is (loosley) lean culture with the book divided into three sections - Building Support; Staff Development; and Sustaining Change. The articles are a mixed bag, with some so short and bland that it is difficult to get anything out of them. Two of the articles are not even about lean (but about six sigma). Nevertheless, the book contains a handful of articles which are useful. The best, in my view, being the ones that stress the need to get the full commitment of the CEO, and those on training and developing supervisors and line managers. It is not an expensive book and so is probably a worthwhile addition to your lean culture library - though I wouldn't rate it as essential reading and "Toyota Culture" and "Creating a Lean Culture" both cover the subject much better.
