When they say "Heavy Duty", they mean it!Sep 24, 2007
By FrAnkrYzzO I was looking for a replacement for the retractable cord for my ID badge at work that was was made from metal because the plastic ones always break. Looking at the picture on this one, I figured it was the standard size with a metal casing and cord instead of the standard plastic ones you'd normally see. The casing on this one is about twice the size of a normal retractable, and the cord isn't a cord but rather a chain. This thing could retract about 10lbs worth of keys! It's a little heavier duty then an ID badge would need, but at least I can rest assured this is one product I'll never have to replace again.

Solid but DestructableAug 20, 2008
By Jim The Eagle O.K. I had gone through 4 plastic badge reels in 2 years and was looking for something more durable. Another review said these were indestructible, this is not the case as I have had one explode on me. It came totally apart and is now unserviceable. The reason I still give them 4 stars is I ordered 6 for my work colleagues and only one has blown apart, the others are still going strong. So I may have just got a bad apple. They really are solid and do have a nice finish.

This thing really works! It retracts and holds a lot more weight than I ever thought it might. I purchased it for my husband to carry his load of work keys and it holds and retracts with all of them! I can't even guess how heavy the keys are except he has broken a number of key holders that he would use to attach them to his belt. Not this thing! He loves it.

By Brynn Gibbons The product came quickly and was what I wanted. It is a bit heavy for office work (i.e. skirts or blouses), but attached to a belt or jeans it is great. Seems very sturdy.

NOT heavy dutyDec 14, 2007

After one week of moderate office use, this "heavy duty" product snapped inside and the chain no longer retracts. I do not recommend.
