5Best small office laminator we've ever ownedMay 17, 2009
By DocRWM "docrwm"
We've gone through 5 laminators in the past 4 years at our office. This one is the best, by far, of the ones we've owned. Yes, there is a screw you need to remove (although our manuals did say to do so) but that is to protect the unit in transit.

Best feature, by far, for me is that the unit opens so you can remove jams without removing screws and trying to take it apart!! Yeah!! The settings are a bit off in that our 3mil pouches require the 5mil setting to work right but that is a small quibble when you have a unit that lasts, works, and is easy to fix when something jams!

4Good Laminations But Inadequate Setup InstructionsAug 08, 2008
By M. Gale
The manual and other materials that came with the laminator did not indicate that there is a screw that must be removed from the bottom of the laminator for it to function properly. Before learning about the screw, I believed that the button on the right used to open the laminator for cleaning was defective, and Amazon.com replaced the equipment as being defective for that reason. The replacement product had a special printout of the instruction for removing the screw at the top of the items in the box when I opened the replacement. It would have been better if there were some obvious indicator on the unit that the screw needs to be removed. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the product.

5I love it... got my monies worthSep 09, 2009

A year ago, I purchased an expensive professional roll laminator and it quit working. For a few days I did some research on laminators and this was one of the few that did 7 and 10 mil for which I constantly work at these settings. I was surprise to find this one for about half the money. It takes about 4 minutes to heat up even for the 10 mil setting. It laminates fast and precise and I am very satisfied with this product. I read the simple directions and was at work in about 10 minutes. Easy to maintain, especially the hinged cover that exposes the path of the work piece at the very top, to correct any paper/pouch jams. I personally would recommend this unit to any out there that is interested in a low cost unit and very dependable. Oh yes, you do have to run the 7 and 10 mil pouches through twice to get a good bond. Do it immediately on the second time while the pouch is hot, it gives you a smooth nice looking product. Also I use 32 lb paper which at the end looks very professional. I make hundreds of various book markers and other items for our church.

I have had this laminator about a month now and have used it frequently. One run was 97 8.5x11 3mil laminations.

I find this one a lot more user friendly than the last model I had, one which required disassembly to clear a jam. The internals are of cheaper materials but I guess that is progress. At any rate I find this model to be of satiafactory quality and construction. It does make a little noise the first few times you use it but quiets down after it breaks in. Either that or you get used to the noise but I don't find it objectionable.

I haven't had problems mentioned by other posters regarding curled, bent corners or faulty laminations. I can only suggest that attention be paid to proper selection of heat setting for the pouches being used and taking care to feed the pouch properly into the machine.

The instructions are not the best but I think it matters more to a novice over an experienced user; still it is nothing that a novice user can't cope with. I have no problem recommending this model and do not regret my decision to purchase it.

5well worth the moneySep 07, 2009

I did a lot of research on laminators and this was one of the few that did up to 10 mil and was not a huge amount of money. It takes less than 5 minutes to heat up even for the 10 mil setting. Less time on the thinner pouches. It laminates fast and precise and I am very satisfied with this product. I have used a professional roll laminator in the past and this puts out a product just as good as that. I have not tried the cold setting yet or put in any pouch larger than the letter size but I see no reason that even the 12 x 18 menu size would not laminate just as perfect. Simple directions to follow to use as well as maintain. I would not hesitate to recommend this to any of my friends.
